The SSJ4 (Special Sensor for Precipitating Particles, Version 4) has flown on DMSP spacecraft since Flight 6 (F6, launched in Dec 1982) and will continue through DMSP spacecraft F15 (launched Dec 1999). For spacecraft F16 through F20, SSJ5, an improved version of the particle detector, will be used from 2003 to ~2015.
